Going under.
Coming up new.
Baptism isn't a graduation. It isn't a magic bath. It's a full-body yes, a public picture of what Jesus has already done inside of you.
buried with Him → raised with Him.
You go under.
Going under the water is a picture of Jesus' death, and of the old life being buried with Him.
You are washed.
The water is a sign, not a scrub. Jesus does the cleaning on the inside. Grace, not gritty willpower.
You come up new.
Rising out of the water pictures Jesus' resurrection, and the brand-new life He gives you today.

Do I have to be baptized to be saved?+
Salvation is a gift you receive by grace through faith in Jesus. Baptism doesn't earn it, it announces it. Think of it as saying yes out loud, with your whole body.
What if I was baptized as a baby?+
Many people choose to be baptized again once they personally say yes to Jesus. This is called believer's baptism, and it's your public step of faith, not a redo of your family's love for you.
What if I'm scared or feel unready?+
That's normal. You don't have to have it all together first. Talk with a pastor or a trusted friend. God is not in a hurry, and He is not disappointed in you.
Where do I actually do it?+
A local church. Pools, rivers, oceans, backyard tubs, big fancy baptistries. It's the moment, not the setting, that matters.
